18km Route

The first section of this well-marked and popular linear trail includes the Breakfast Rock Trail.

The distance from the main gate to the vantage point at the terminus of the Uitkyk Trail is about 3km.

Once past Breakfast Rock, the trail follows the westerly valley slope of the Perdekloof stream, crossing it at approximately 845 metres beyond Breakfast Rock; this is a wonderful place to stop and the water is safe to drink and very refreshing.

The turn-off to Perdekop Trail is encountered approximately 2km beyond Breakfast Rock. At this point you will turn left and join the 25km runners toward the finish.

The new trail section boasts a spectacular view of the secluded Wemmershoek Valley and Wemmershoek Dam area whilst breaking a sweat towards Du Toitskop summit at 1407m.

Magnificent vistas of the Franschhoek & Berg River valley can be seen on the way down, you will be amazed by the beauty and view of this portion of the trail as you descend towards the Vista Trail.

From here it is all downhill!

Once you reach the MRNR gate there is only 5km left to the finish. At the finish, participants are rewarded with an aid station and a finisher’s medal.
